I like 7,500 or 1 year using synthetic motor oil. If you do lots of stop and go or short trips then go 5,000 miles or 1 year. If using conventional oil I would also go 5,000 miles or 1 year. Always use the manufacturer recommended grade (weight) of oil.
Some of the suggested mileage before changing oil and filter on a 2013 Hyundai Sonata is too much, every 3000 miles or 3 months whatever comes first. This suggestion is the safest and will give you the most piece of mind. Who would want to have oil that's 6000 miles old in July and August heat, it's 5W20 to begin with.
3000 miles or 3 month.. what a crock of crap.. modern oils and engines are not the crap of yesteryear the car manf used to make. The rings were so loose raw gas would work it work it way to the oil in time make it less "slippery" causing damage to the cylinder wall and all moving part so the 3000 mile change was needed.. NOW with tighter tolerances and modern oils most car manf use the 5k for more intown, stop and go traffic, and 7500 more hwy miles as a standard. For anyone to suggest 3K and 3M is so out of touch they need to get back to mech school and read the books or they work for one of the large oil change, rip off, facilities that dot the landscape.
7500 miles..what a crock of crap..for anyone to suggest 7500 miles between oil changes needs to get back to mech school, if they even went in the first place. Even tho 3000 to 3500 miles is considered early it's not like a personal loan is required to have it done early. I'd rather be safe than sorry, it looks like the small cost of changing the oil and filter early puts an extreme hardship on ones financial situation. I couldn't wait as long as 7500 miles to change the oil and filter, I'd much rather have peace of mind especially during the hot humid months of July and August, knowing the oil has the quantity expressing the magnitude of internal friction ( viscosity ) is was made to have, not broken down from engine heat and hot weather.
