Asked by Nancy Aug 03, 2016 at 06:37 PM about the 2013 Chevrolet Traverse LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It was morning and I stopped to get gas. When I got back in my car to start it
the motor just cranked and wouldn't start. It did this 3 times. I turned the key
off after each time. On the 4th try it started. Does anyone know why this would
happen?

You have a failing Evap Solenoid... if you take it to the dealer (stealership) they'll charge you about 150.00-190.00 to install it. It's a 30.00 part and takes less than 10mins to install it. The Evap Solenoid is on the intake manifold and is held down by 2 10mm bolts... just replace it and the problem will be solved.

The dealer called it a Purge Solenoid.

Wish I had asked this question sooner. It's at the dealers now and the part was put in. It's costing $300.00. They told me when I took the car to them that they tried to duplicate what it was doing for me but couldn't. Now they are keeping it over night to check it again. Next time I ask here first. Thank you so much for your help.

The evaporative solenoid will trigger the check engine light and throw a code. My evaporative solenoid was replaced 4 months ago when it threw a code and the car would still run. Intermittent starting problem is not related to the solenoid.

Thank you so much for having this issue, I only say that cause my 2011 Traverse is doing the same thing and it only happens after i get gas. I've been dealing with it praying it wasn't my fuel pump going out. I've asked around, nobody had an answer, I also refused to ask my dealer, just because i know how they can be and want to ass rape you on prices
