Here's a good one my 2000 Dodge Caravan brake lights work only when the head lights are on why?

Asked by bzywiciel Jan 16, 2015 at 09:17 PM about the 2000 Dodge Caravan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The brake switch is good, the fuse is good, but they will not come on when the brake pedal is pushed only when the head lights are on. I can't find a schematic that shows any alternative power supply going to the brakes when the head lights are on.

it sounds like your brake lights are back feeding through the tail lights either using the ground or the power source to make them work most likely the ground ...does it have a trail hitch and wiring?....// it could be the trailer wiring ...at the tail lights check for both powers and grounds
