Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i have a 2012 dodge avenger. my husband says that i can use flex fuel, that i
just have to wait until i run the tank empty from using regular gas. which i
understand. but i don't want to chance putting it in unless i know for sure that
my car is flex fuel. there isn't a sticker or badge stating that it is. how would i
find this out easily? without insulting my husbands intelligence. hahaha!

You can use any mix of flex fuel and regular gas in a flex fuel car. Check the gas cap! There is also a lookup to see if your car can run E85.

How do i look it up? We don't have the original gas cap, or I would have already checked that and knew my own answer. The person that owned it before us put a locking gas cap on it. and she had no other information on the car.

You use the link I gave you. You may need to input your VIN.

According to Motor Trend the optional 3.6L V6 is a flex fuel engine. The standard 4 cylinder engine is not. Hope that helps! Jim
