Yes. The serpentine drive belt provides power to the power steering, the A/C and the alternator. It's an easy fix and check the tensioner too.
Good guy mechanic, fixing a slipping serpentine belt is a lot cheaper than replacing a power steering pump, so you know these guys aren't trying to rip you off at least.
Does a faulty drive belt effect the power steering? Power steering locked up last night and the dealership is saying it's the drive belt
