what do I do when a dealer offers a car thru your service, and when I get there they have a dealer prep charge added on that is half the price of the car. It is listed at 4000. and the dealer prep is 2000?

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Top Car in Chicago is offering a 2013 Smart for two for 3997.  Car Guru price
analysis shows its 1287 below market.  When I contact them, they add on a
dealer prep charge of 1995.  They add a documentation fee of 197, taxes and
title/plates another 800.00.  Sure looks like false advertising to me.

Hello Stephen, the fees for documentation, title, plates and taxes are the normal for them to charge but the dealer prep isn't. You could try filing a complaint with the federal trade commission but not sure how far you would get....
