2013 Kia Optima LX 114k engine failure
Engine died going up hill at 114k. This car was
running perfectly fine till the car was going up hill. I
headed a clicking noise then it gets louder so I exit
the freeway as the car no longer accelerate. From
there, check engine light went on and the car
won’t start any longer. I had it towed to a
mechanic and informed me It needs a new engine
and it will cost $5k to $8k. I then started
researching for this car and found by typing the
VIN number that it has a recall SC147. I called the
dealership and gave me Kia Consumer Affair. I
called them then right away, they took the VIN of
my vehicle, got it towed to their preferred Kia
Dealership to do a test. If by tomorrow the results
shows engine failed due to recall then they will
replace with a new engine for free and provided us
a loaner car to get around. Praying for it.
