Also, sometimes on a bad ECM the check engine light will NOT come on at all. Diagnosing a bad ECM can be tricky. A good mechanic once told me that the computer (ECM) will never tell on itself. It will tell on everybody else (sensors, wiring, etc.) but never on itself. I've seen that happen a couple of times over the years. Hope that helps! Jim
