Question type: General

I was thinking of getting a 2000 Dodge Durango SLT 4x4 8 cyl 5.9liter from someone I know. It has 158,600 miles on it. I was wondering if the experts out there could tell me if I should do it or not?  I would be trading it straight across for my current car. 2006 Hyundai Sonata GLS 6 cyl with 129, 232 miles. Know nothing about dodge durango especially ones that are 18 years old. Opinions would be appreciated. Thanks

Durango's are not very good cars in my opinion but then again you are trading a Hyundai for it. If you drive 15,000 miles a year the SUV will have 220,000 miles on it in 4 years. If you trust your friend and know they maintained the Durango really well you still have a car with 30k more miles that your Hyundai. This is a judgment call only you can make.

I have a 98 dodge durango slt 4x4 with 206,000 miles on it all original. Had to do a little work on it like brakes, shocks, and a wheel hub assembly but it was inexpensive and relatively easy to install and I love my truck. It's dependable and looks great. It's really just a matter of opinion though, I just always loved dodges. The transmissions in them can be shat a lot of time though, really the only problem I've had out of my dodge's but I've always bought old used ones and fixed them up and they've lasted for ever and still going.
