Van dies or stutters then won’t shift

My 2013 Chrysler town and country will either
stutter when I’m coming to a stop and die or it will
stutter and then stop shifting it will hit 4,000 rpms
and not go over 40 mph
Please help we have four kids I drive daily in this

Go to auto parts chain store and they will read your ODB error codes for free. That will tell what the car believes to be the problem. Thats the most logical starting point.
