I agree with graeme... could be the came sensor. Could also be the cranksensor. How do you know the signal isn't coming out of the PCM?
Where can I find the PCM connector?

yes check the pick up in the ditrutor cap or the crank position sensor.

it also mite be the pcm im haveing a simaler issuewith my 99 dakota but it is miss firing when it trys to start
