I have 1998 Dodge Dakota - but which model is it?

Asked by Jim Feb 23, 2015 at 07:20 AM about the 1998 Dodge Dakota RWD

Question type: General

I've recently purchased a used 1998 Dodge Dakota, but I do not know what model it is.  All emblems have been removed from the vehicle, and there is nothing on the title.
It is a 2 door, standard cab, standard bed, with a 3.9L V6, automatic 2WD.

My guess is that it is a "base", but how can I confirm it?
The models are:   Base,  R/T,  SLT,  and Sport.

What are the differences to distinguish which one I have?

That was helpful, but not enough unfortunately. It just tells me that " is from a 1998 Dodge Truck with a Regular Cab body and a 3.9L (238ci) EFI V6 engine. It has a GVWR of 4001-5000 lbs. and was vehicle number 647771 to be built on the Dakota, Dakota Shelby, Dakota Sport, Dakota 4x2 line at Dodge City Assembly (Warren, MI), USA." and then, under the field for "Series:, it shows: Dakota, Dakota Sport, Dakota SLT, (L), Low

I'm not sure if this will work but it's worth a shot. to find out everything about your truck. Give them your email and they will send you your build sheet in a day or so http://www.dodge.com/wccsapp/univers...ull&category=R

Bandit31 - Guess what. After contacting Dodge, the analyst helping me could not give me the model, and basically said that it must be a "Base" model since there were no indications of other models that she could find. Well, she did give me the build sheet, and as I read it, I found that the build sheet included a "KSRP FLAME RED - "SPORT" DECAL". So, I guess this answers my question. I surmise that I have a Dodge Dakota "Sport". And now, finally, I can order parts and things to restore it knowing what actual body it has. Thank you again for your help.
