98 5.2 4x4 darango wont run

Durangoz are common for dropping a rocker or two if overheated. pull a valve cover,,driver side first is my guess. i 2 darangoz at the shop now .both with the same problem.
My first guess would be the battery. There are many problems that comes with a bad or going bad battery. I left my stereo on for many hours while detailing it and emptied out the battery and it would run fine on gas but when I let go of the gas it would die and it acted like that for 2 days and then it was ok. I started out by checking the battery and it needed some water, it is supposed to flow over the plates inside. Then I clean´d the connectors both on the battery and the cables with wire brush. Then I checked if the alternator was charging it is supposed to charge over 14 volts. Start this before you go into expensive stuff. Hope this solves your problem.
o crums. i forgot...some cars need to "relearn" after the battery gets disconected.
Not the Durango you reset the cpu but nothing else happens. Start by checking your battery :o)
It's almost definitely the battery... these trucks are very picky about battery voltage and won't run with even 1 dead cell in the battery.
Very unlikely it is the battery; did you figure out the problem? I am guessing it was fuel related, you must have fixed it by now (original post was from Nov '11)
What makes it so unlikely that it's the battery? I've seen it dozens of times, symptoms are exactly how he described it. These trucks aren't like older stuff that will run off the alternator, you have to have 12 volts in the battery or it just won't run
Yeah that is right, it has happened to me and many off my fellow members of the DOC ( durango owners club) If our Durangos behave strangely it has often been solved by a new battery or cleaning like I described above. This is one of the symptoms. They just need their juice.
Once a car starts the battery is essentially out of the loop. If the alternator is working properly then it supplies all the voltage the vehicle needs to run. If the battery was bad the engine would not start in the first place.
Joe listen, I know this and so do many other Durango owners, read what I have said and learn. This is just a fact.
More than likely it's the battery because my 98 won't start i have a dead cell somewhere and im hoping that's all That's wrong and its not my alternator
