Engine Knock at Idle

Asked by psn105 Oct 07, 2012 at 04:21 PM about the 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan American Value Package FWD

Question type: General

My 2012 Dodge Caravan has developed a knock at idle speed with the car in gear only. If I place the car in park with the engine at idle, there is no noise. The car has less than 5,000 miles and the oil was changed 1 month ago using 5w30 as per MFG requirements.

was the Oil changed at a Dealership or by a Friend ? have you checked to see if you have any Oil in the engine currently ? you should bring it back to the Source of the Last Oil change & let them double check the JOB

Covered under Warranty and I agree bring it back to last service station. If that fails go to Dealer and have them see what is the noise.

I have a 2003 Dodge Caravan with 190,000 miles and about 5 months ago it developed a lnoc in exactly the same circumstances- it only knocks when stopped in gear, put it in park or raise the RPM and no knock, fresh oil FULL and oil filter 5W30 did not help----is this the oil pump?
