Engine knock

Asked by neonred121461 Apr 24, 2011 at 07:53 PM about the 1998 Dodge Neon R/T Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

98 with 76,000 bought recently with a knock. I pulled valve cover and it sounds like it could be on top? Do these have hydralic lifters or something comp? I am pretty sure it is not a rod bearing. Car runs very well and has at least 125 pounds per cylinder as far as compression goes?

Thank you, Mike

it has hydralic lifters, make sure that is on top and all you have to do is replace it it will sound kind of pitchi but if it sound hollow most likely is the berings.
