That's all the info I have other than the key will turn counterclockwise but not clockwise. It beeps like it wants to open but nothing. One minute I was using the trunk, shut it, went to open it again and wouldn't budge. End of story.

Thanks for your answer :) No I've never used a key to lock my trunk, just shut it. And I don't have a Valet key with this car. Don't know why my latch or cylinder would be damaged, it's not like I use the trunk alot and car's not that old. But anyways, looks like a locksmith it is. Could take it to Toyota but unless they have a special tool to open trunks which I doubt, well thanks again for your input !

currently going thru this problem on my buddies 500whp carolla sport from 2012, basically if the latch doesnt work, the key doesnt work and whatever other method doesnt work.. you have to tear apart almost the entire interior to get to that trunk. we removed the drivers seat for whatever reason, remove drivers side trim, removed backseat cushions, removed backseat trim and now im guessing tomorrow we are removing backseat back rests because you can only do it from the trunk so we have to remove it from where we can. We also have to remove the backseat trim behind the headrests in order to get to the latches in the trunk.
