Scrap it? 7 grand for a used engine installed is robbery. Get more prices.

Is that price from a dealer, a used supercharger engine will run you around $3000 plus install. I would say you might be able to get it closer to $5 or $6K. You should replace the engine. Parting it out won't get you anywhere close to $9K.

Get a second opinion on the engine. It might be repairable. My job was once quoted a high price on a replacement engine for one of our delivery vehicles. It was "knocking". Management said just drive it until it quits. Guess what, about a month later the water pump failed. It seized and broke the serpentine belt. Funny thing, when that happened the engine stopped knocking. The water pump was replaced and the truck ran fine for a few more years! My point is, make sure the engine is really shot! If it is, I'd do like G A said. Throw a junkyard engine in it and get rid of it asap!! Hope that helps! Jim

If it were my car I might install a used engine myself and save the labor. Then I would sell it and take whatever loss I had to on the sale. Some loss is better than a total loss. Check the value of the car. If the engine cost is more than it is worth you may want to suck it up and take the hit.
