Ideas on why I don't have oil pressure?

Asked by Samantha Aug 29, 2020 at 07:53 PM about the 1997 Dodge Dakota 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I changed the oil pan, the oil pump, oil pump sending unit,
new oil, and oil filter. But i don't have any oil pressure. Ideas
of what it could be?

Did you use a manual oil pressure gauge to verify the lack of oil pressure?

Sent it to a shop and they charged me 50 and only told me we got the foot seated in the pump.

If the engine is making a lot of noise it is shot. If it runs smoothly there is probably a gauge problem.

I haven't let it run but a couple minutes. It doesn't make alot of noise but it doesn't run like it did before i went to do an oil change. I went to do an oil change and the original oil pan had been drilled out. So we went to drop the pan to fix the hole and realized we had to drop the oil pump to get the pan off. Then I decided to just replace the pump and the pan. That didn't work so I went ahead and changed the sending unit to see if that would work.
