97 dodge neon idles roughly?

Asked by jmichelle Jul 09, 2014 at 02:48 AM about the 1997 Dodge Neon Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So today i just replaced the valve
cover gasket and spark plugs
because i found oil in the bottom
of them. My car still idles roughly
in park or while im stopped at
stop lights and give off white
smoke it just did this 2days ago.
Do i have a blown head gasket or
cracked block? Should i even pay
for a repair?

sounds like a bad head gasket- check the oil and the coolant- are they mixing together? a compression test will tell you for sure- the car will need to be fixed or else it is just scrap- or you can sell it cheap to someone who wants to take a project on-

I had a blown head gasket in my 2005 dodge neon it was diagnosed by 2 different licensed mechanics I put blue devil blown head gasket repair and the blue devil radiator flush followed the directions to the letter and I haven't had any problems since and that was about a year and a half ago it costs about 65 for the head gasket repair and about 12 for the radiator flush at o'reilly's worth a shot
