Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 96 Dakota 4x4 with a 318 auto transmission. I have looked and looked and can't
find a reasonable transmission for under 1400.00, the one I have has all forward gears
but the reverse went out. Does anyone have any idea what it could be. I am trying my
best not to rebuild the whole transmission if I don't have to. If anyone can help me out
with what I need to do please email me at deisleysr@icloud.com. Thanks in advance.

usually when reverse goes out, it's time to rebuild.

I saw a video on Youtube where the person took and adjusted the reverse gear the transmission on a Dodge Dakota.
