If the timing belt break while driving can the engine be repaired?

It's an interference engine, in a 1988 Nissan 300ZX (Both 2.0. Maxima or 3.0 Stanza) so major damage may (probably) has occurred. But that does not mean it can't be repaired. Just expensive.
