I wonder if the alternator's voltage regulator or something else with the alternator went bad causing an overvoltage condition killing the headlamps. If the voltage was high enough there could be all kinds of issues. This may have damaged the battery also.
thats what i thought, the voltage regulator did go bad, got a new alternator and battery but the car still isnt starting, the starter is fine, thinking its gotta be a wiring problem,
Just ran into the same problem kind of. Car hasn't been started/ran in 3 years. Got it started...idling fine, went to go drive it and not even 30 seconds in, lost power. Jumped it a time or 2 but couldn't move but 10 feet without it cutting off. Put a new battery in because the old one was overflowing while charging, and had power and started to turn over, and all of the sudden no power at all. Checked all of the fuses and all are good. Whats the next step?
