Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My 95 dakota has no low beam or high
beam headlights. No horn no doorlocks
no running lights park or brake lights...No
instrument panel lights..Only turn signals
Work front and back both sides. The radio
and windows and interior dome light
work.I have found that fuses 5,6,7,and 8
and 13 are good fuses but show no sign
of power when touched on both sides
with a test light. I have replaced the
headlight switch, turning signal switch
and checked all fuses. Checked all ground
wire connections that i coul find...very
frustrated and confused..trying to keep
my cool....lol. any obvious answers?

Check the connection from the wire harness from the fuse box underneath the hood to the firewall. Its a Bolt on conect at the firewall to the harness underneath the steering column. There's Two separate harness. trace your voltage from the fuse box that it's getting 12v to the wires red one then check the connection by the firewall bolted on connection an pull the connection apart see if there any corrosion or broken wire. Underneath the steering column where the harness is connection through the firewall check for power through that 2nd wireharness an see if there is still 12v coming through then make your way to the switch. But my problem was at the firewall where the two harness connect an the main power line the pins was corrosive an broken dude to old age. I clean all the wires and took the main 12v wire extended around the connection thrpught the firewall to the other harness an splice it onto the main line on that harness an connected the two back with the main power running around the connection we got power again to the headlights, radio, cluster, buzzer, brake lights, both left an right turn signal.
