Dakotas came with a 3.9 v-6, a 5.2(318) v-8 and a few came with a 5.9(360) v-8

prior to 1998 when the 5.9 R/T was introduced, no Dakota came from the factory with an engine larger than 5.2liters. (318c.i.)

383 was a low deck big block built from 1959 to 1971 and takes the big block 727 trans - this being a dakota im thinking its a 4.7 liter which is about 286 cubic inches and was used in dakotas from 2000 - 2008 but he said original so 318 - 238 - or 150 is all that was offered in 1995
