Not communicating with code reader

Asked by GuruDYZVF Aug 12, 2017 at 06:02 AM about the 1989 Toyota Pickup 2 Dr Deluxe V6 4WD Extended Cab

Check engine light came on in my 89 toyota 4x4
pickup with 3.0 vze engine. Plugged on my code
reader and it won t communicate or thro any
codes. Tried jumping Te1 and E1 with no results.  
What's my issue?

a vehicle that old may have an earlier OBD and your reader is made for the recent systems

HELP NEEDED: Did you ever find the Issue/Fix? I am having the same issue in my 1992 Toyota Pickup 3.0...
