transmisson troubles

i got a 1988 ford bronco a few weeks ago with the 302 Windsor EFI the guy i got it from said he had the transmission rebuilt but the did it wrong because it doesnt have overdrive like it is suppose to have i was wonder if i need the throttle valve cable if i get a replacement tranny and also would a AOD mount up properly

Exactly what transmission was installed? O/D was not available in 1988
C 4...C 6....NP435.....T 18.....or there was a Dana 4 speed offered but it sounds like somebody stuck a newer one in it
What you did get is one of the best engines Ford, or anybody else for that matter, ever built....my opinion

from the what i looked up the od transmissons came out in 87 and the owners manual for my 88 bronco said they had two auto trans the c6 and the AOD i think the installed the c6 in it and yeah the engine is strong and healthy
OK ....and to answer your original question: Yes you will need the cable
yea it should be a c6 and this transmition is very sticky you have to run it for like five minutes in each gear befor it will shift to the next gear the last shift is at 70 mphs
well the first thing you should do is smell the tranny fluid on the dip stick .. If it's bright red with a slight oily smell your probly ok there ... If it smells like a burnt electrical circuit or is orange or brown colored you need to get it out of there and change the filter also ...
