Possibly bad throttle position sensor. But could be any number of things. How old are your spark plugs and wires? Air filter and fuel filter clean? Hear any hissing around intake area ?(vacuum leaks).

Bad TFI module. There was a big lawsuit and recall over. Your 89 Ford Bronco II is covered. I believe if you are under 100k miles you get a freebie, if not they run $40-90 at a parts store. I'd consider trying to mount it away from where it's at now. Even with a new design, you are still in a major hot spot under the hood.
