My 2013 F-150 when it has been sitting for a while, over 8 hours takes one extra turn to start. What is the reason for this?

at least it starts now we don't answer questions about why it takes more turns to start. we answer questions like why doesn't it start

Probably the fuel pump getting up to pressure. If you start it once and shut it off, then immediately start it again, fires right up, correct? But the fuel system may lose pressure sitting, and it just needs that extra turn. I think if you turn on the key to 'run'. for about 4-5 seconds before starting this will not happen. No worries. Your truck has EFI 'returnless' system. I disagree with you @ crumbob. While it is obviously much more of an issue when a vehicle doesn't start at all, the OP has a very valid question. I have a 2012 Infiniti with a push button start that starts up after the 1st press of the button with the brake pedal depressed (each time, every time)....I'd be concerned if it took an additional button press to start her up. To me, that would indicate that something is not quite right with the car and I'd have that looked into.
