Is the AC or defrost turned on? Some vehicles will turn on the fans as soon as the AC is turned on. The defroster turns on the AC compressor so the same thing will happen.

My truck is a 2011 and doing the same thing. I also have a post here with questions about this along with a lot of others. Mine runs constantly when I start the truck with the defrost on.....it has run about 200 miles now without the fan running in high and it is because I have it set on heat only. If you look at my other post you can see everything the shop has done so far with no resolution. I'm thinking after research and my experiment that is likely the engine temp control sensor. Will have the shop change that out then see what happens. Good Luck! Please post if you find resolution to the issue.

Working on a 2013 F150 XLT with a 5.0. Had it running the radiator fan running at high speed all the time. Changed the AC switch with no results, did some YouTube research and discovered the AC expansion valve causes this. Changed the valve, got a motorcraft one at Rockauto.com. Removed and replaced with all new seals that I bought separately , reserviced Freon and put too much in and caused fans to run at high, reserviced to keep at below 32psi. With AC off the fan did not come on at idle but cycled on low with AC on with outside temperature at 65F degrees.
