Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Accommodated a truck and 4x4 shaft was
removed and I installed back in and nothing then
found a wire under housing of stick shift
unplugged reconnected it then 4x4  felt like it was
engaging but still nothing  then random wire not
connected next to transfer case was hanging and I
found that it was the 4x4 switch  wire but the 4x4
switch on transfer case is a vacuum operated
switch so replaced it with the right switch  and 4x4
feels like its doing it but still nothing please help
