Starting issues

Asked by John Jul 17, 2018 at 10:49 AM about the 1988 Ford Thunderbird RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 88 Ford Thunderbird with a 5.0. I
got it back up again and when you try to
start it it will turn over but not crank. Keep
trying and it does start but after driving and
stopping at the store it does like it has a
electrical issue. But it will start back up
after many tries. What is the issue.

Is the float bowl overheating, hot engine can cause this, to check, get engine hot, turn off and remove TOP of carburetor, if you see bubbling/ the gas is still being let into the float bowl and that could cause flooding and a difficult start,
