Why is my traction control light on and why doesn't my cruise control or Eco work?
Asked by dspan64 May 16, 2016 at 07:10 PM about the 2012 RAM 1500 Tradesman Crew Cab
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I'm such a dummy. I have a 2012 Ram 1500 that needs inspection, but I have
a code light on and cannot clear the monitors without the code light going
back on again. What I can tell you is in my question: Why is my traction
control light on and why doesn't my cruise control or Eco work? Is it a fuse?
Please help this idiot..Thanks much folks.

Scan it for codes it has a bad WSS (wheel speed sensor) control this sends a signal to the vehicles computer and NO CRUISE along with the Traction light ON is because a wheel is not sending its signal to the computer... ONCE again a decent scan tool will indicate which wheel sensor needs to be serviced / replaced
Take it to a local autoparts store and get the code read. This is usually a free service. Post the code(s) here on the forum and someone may be able to help you. Also if there is a chance that the truck is still covered by emissions or power train warranty, the dealership can fix it for you.
More than likely a wheel speed sensor once you figure out which one find a wiring diagram.
My 2008 did the same thing, I found a broken wire over the left rear axle. It was a available wire inside the lump or wire harness just above the axle on the left Side.once I fixed that all lights went put and my cruse worked like it should.

This two lights will turn on when driving my 2014 Dodge 1500 Hemi Big horn and RPMs will not engage like they suppose to ... its hard to accelerate and once I reach 60 the RPM’s will stay on 3 and will not kick on to shift ... I stop and turn my truck off wait a few minutes turn it on and engine light will stay on but not stability control and truck will drive fine but it will do it all over again after a few minutes driving on the high way ... I suppose to get on the high way to go home from work and is a 3 hr drive and I don’t want to mess anything up driving it like that please help
Have you found out why your truck is doing this? Mine is doing the same. I took it to the shop and they said it was the alternator and the fuel pump. They replaced it and it did nothing to fix the problem
Question was for soccerchido10
Mine is doing the same, i need help too!!!
So I found out what it was for at least my truck. Took it back to the shop and they replaced the cam sensor and all is good now
Cam sensor fixed the traction control, abs light problem and the hesitation when accelerating from a stop?
I never had a problem with abs or acceleration. Just traction control and the truck not shifting past 3rd gear. But the cam sensor fixed it
Thank you...having this problem now.. 2016 Ram 1500 Big horn Hemi. Going to check this cam sensor.
My Exhaust break and tow lights not coming on also my horn is not working what could be the problem?
I had the same problem, the code readings i received was to replace the cam shaft sensor, which i did, but it didn't work, the next reading i got was to replace the crank shaft sensor, which i did but it didn't work, so i replaced both the rear brake sensors and that didn't work. But i did solve the problem and to me it doesn't make since, i was told by a friend who had the same issue, he said to replace the brake stop swith but it has to be an OEM replacement part, i replaced it and the trac light went off, so i disconnected the battery for about 10 minutes and replaced the battery cable and the service engine light turned off and the both lights have not come back on and its been over 6 months. I don't know what the brake stop switch has to do with those issues but that brake stop switch has a lot of wires going to it, but it worked, i hope this frustrating situation works for you all.
Where is that brake stop switch? I'm getting a P0344 code along with the traction light and only able to make it a few blocks before stalling. Camshaft, crankshaft, oxygen sensors and pCM has been replaced relearned and reprogrammed. I'm willing to try anything at this point.
I have a question. I have a 2019 dodge ram when it's on heavyweight the traction light turns ON and the rpm doesn't shift. What is the problem? When all the weight comes off it goes back to regular any suggestion on what's happening?
The Electronic Stability Control light stays on in my 2012 Ram Bighorn. This is the only light on in the truck. The truck drives great and no issues stopping. when I had a code read at the part store it pulled a code C121D, but they could not help me on figuring out the problem. Has anyone else had this issue or suggestions on how to fix? Thank you
My ck egin light is on and my tracks light is to. The code say cam sensor bad so iv replaced and put new brake stop sensor still they both come on. Getting replacement parts at O'Reilly's took it to Dodge dealership they're saying the same thing cam sensor taking it back tomorrow and they're going to go through it again he seems to think it's maybe a wire problem does anybody have any suggestions 2012 Limited Edition 1500 thank you
GuruHDX8C.... Is there another name for the " brake stop switch?"? I have smae issue and Dodge cannot fix it
Same issue. I have 'solved' this by turning OFF traction control. Drives fine but when I turn on traction control my track light and ABS lights come on and the vehicle drives like the transmission is bad. Also, cruise not working. So now I can at least drive the truck but I'd like to FIX the probelm instead of driving around with the lights on and the trac control off. 2015 Ram 1500 Express 5.7 HEMI.
My tow lights kept lighting up at the same time as the check engine light and my cruise control stopped working... I replaced the brake switch with an OEM part from the dealership for $50 and it fixed those issues... but just recently my traction and engine light have turned back on!
I had the same problem with my 2011 ram 1500 Hemi. Whenever I used my cruise control or kicked my truck down it’s like the engine shut down and know power, also the traction control light was on. I replaced crank sensor first and it still was happening so I replaced cam sensor and it happened again so I pulled the crank sensor again noticed rust color with the oil on the sensor so I cleaned it off plugged it back in and Low and behold that was it! That’s been 3 months ago. The sensors are inexpensive and easy to install.I’m a female and I put them both in myself
I had much of the same problems as above , but prior issues always were solved with a new front wheel bering and hub.(same unit, with replacement sensor) Changed out bering, hub sensor (one unit ) and all the same problems are occurring New bering, hub on right side ,knew it was going so replaced , grinding , noise etc. New unit installed , same problem , ABS light on traction control light on and trailer control light comes up intermittently What is the problem , another whreel bering gone.
I have changed all 4 sensors trued everything suggested lights still on cruise still doesn’t work help!

Have a Ram 1500 2011, check engine light and traction control light were on, got the P0344 code read at autozone, said it needed a cam sensor. $15 dollar part, took 10-15 minutes to replace. Make sure to remove battery cables too to reset the computer so the check engine light will go off, but doing all that fixed the problem. Eco mode back on
I have this problem with my ram 2014 big horn I Need help please
