Car Transmission wont go into gear
Asked by Nick May 22, 2018 at 06:13 PM about the 2003 Ford Escort ZX2
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
When driving home last night i found my car was struggling to get up a hill
near my place. On the way down i realised my car had slipped out of gear
(its an automatic) and was just revving. I have checked the transmission
fluid and it seems fine. I had just put the car into overdrive so im thinking it
might have triggered a problem with the car computer system. I will try and
reset that later but if that doesn't work, any suggestions?
Its a 2003 ford Mondeo sedan

I had the same problem with my 2000 ford escort zx2 and after checking many electrical systems with a multimeter I diagnosed a faulty throttle position sensor. After replacing it it worked perfectly they are pretty inexpensive. It could be many other things causing this problem though so make sure you check over things thouroughly before becoming a parts changer.

I’m sorry what do you mean you have to shift the car from drive to neutral till it shifts on its own. I’m not sure what you mean by “ till it starts shifting on it’s own. Its your 1.9 liter an automatic or a manual. And what happens that makes you want to shift it from drive to nuetral. I need some details lol so I can understand the question in order to answer it.
