Car won't start

This is a bit hard over the internet, but here are a couple ideas First off, do you know for sure the engine is not locked up for some reason? That would cause a rather solid "CLICK" and no turn over. I would think that is not very likely, but I have seen a lot so I put it out there for you. The other thing, is that many autos now use a relay to the starter. the starter itself has a big relay on it, the starter solenoid. But now many auto makers are using a relay, to energize the starter solenoid (which is as I said a relay). I would suspect this is your problem. Try to google for a starter relay for your car. To see if that is the problem, you can switch that relay with another one in the car. If it then cranks you know you found the problem. (the car may not start, because who knows, perhaps you swapped the fuel pump relay or something with the starter relay, but all you want is to see if relay was the problem). A new relay should be around 10 bucks. If this is a push button start, no key, there is a module that controls the start circuit that is why you can push the button and do not need to hold it till it starts like you do with a key. I hope this is helpful to you. Tom
Waiting for my son to get back with relay fuse to try it. Fly wheel turns so motor not locked up.
Going to have to wait till morning, all the parts store have to order a relay fuse....

Just bought a Mazda 3s hatchback and it doesn't start right away. What are some things I can check?
I have a Mazda3 2006 sedan Problem it is swinging but not starting
2013 Mazda 3 manual I think I'm having the same problem, first my alternator went so I had it rebuilt ($650 CAD for a new one) then a week later it wouldn't turn over so I thought my starter went, pulled it out and it spins. My buddy ended up running a wire from my starter to my fuse box and when the car is on (not turned over) I touch the wire to a bolt and it runs. We checked just about everything with a multi-meter and I have power everywhere. Does this sound like the same problem?

My 2012 mazda 3 was off for 2 days when i went to start it i had the same solid click but no turnover. When i popped the hood i heard what sounded like something electrical whirring and had to disconnect battery to get it to stop... any ideas?
I have a 2014 Mazda 3 and experienced the same thing as Tannerjr2009. After getting my car back from a mechanic (wasn't run much in a several day span) the same thing happened. The starter sounded like it got stuck halfway through a crank and then I heard that electric buzzing sound in the engine and everything locked up in the car.

Tannerjr or Guru9DD, Did you get it fixed? An update may help me with the same problem. Thanks
The whirring is your starter stuck spinning but not engaging the flywheel usually this means starter is getting old and corroded inside and fails to launch its gear out enough to engage the flywheel
