1988 Acura Integra Idle problem

Asked by Michael Mar 07, 2018 at 08:05 PM about the 1988 Acura Integra LS Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my integra has been idling strangely. I am pretty sure its a vacuum leak,
but i just want to make sure ill be looking in the right place. The car idles
fast but rpms drop when i press on the brakes and returns back to a high
idle (1250 -1350)  im assuming its the line coming off the brake booster
but id like a second opinion. And there is pretty much no space in the
engine compartment to do mess around too much.

Check your FITV ( Fast Idle Thermal Valve ) unscrew one of the two screws and loosen the other just a little, move the cover down a little so you can tighten or loosen the thermal valve or take it out completely. Clean it up or replace it. After cleaning it up or replacing it. It should fix the erratic idle.
