Can you replace the manual transmission with an automatic one in Stealth R/T turbo?

agreed, It would be cheaper to buy a automatic one.

2nd and 3rd that. Too much modification required to make this feasible.
Replacing a manual with an automatic on a car like this is a mortal sin
i see you have some answers, but you wouldnt be able to find an automatic for a twin turbo, they dont make one. you would have to custom rig one in there, and then it would have to be one hell of a transmission to support the torque, i wouldn't say its impossible, but it should be. Why would you want an automatic anyway? manual is more fun
one, why would u want to do that. two, good luck finding one ive never heard of it. last, u will just destroy the AT if u find one right away
no no no. they did make a few of the twin turbos automatic but they scratched that idea early because the rpms wouldnt get high enough for the turbos to spool. so unless you want your turbos to be use-less, dont do it.
A lot of bad information here. It can be done, you need a) TCU from an ATX 3000GT/Stealth, B) ATX awd tranny from I believe a DSM. (Haven't done this myself, a friend has) As for the RPMs not getting high enough, that is crazy talk, 9bs spool at about 2000, I don't know what automatic you've been driving that shifts at 2000 all the time, but you should probably have it looked at. There were no ATX AWD TT in the US (with the exception of a few executive cars that have never resurfaced) but in Japan you could get an NA AWD ATX, which is another source of your tranny, if you can find it.
Not if you want to keep it AWD. I'm sure there's a way to keep it AWD but you'd be looking at a lot of time, money, and custom fabrication.
Again it would require a ton of work and is not wroth the trouble. Also Sam Troy not true.. as far a lag/spooling the stock 9b's have barley any lag and start spooling at 2000krpm they are very tiny turbos that spool up really quickly doesn't take much.
You could get one but you'd have to change the flywheel remove the clutch presure plate thowout bearing remove the cluch cable change the shifter there's a lot of work and you could depreciate the value of that high performance vehicle you'd be better off just getting a car with an auto already in it and if you did change it out it could cause problems with the vehicle if it has a hydrolic clutch.
Or, you can speak to someone, such as myself, who has an automatic but would prefer a manual.
