I found a 1984 Porsche 944 for sale for a $1000 and the owner said it needs a new starter and a new clutch my question is would that be pretty costly at a repair shop to get done or is that something i san get done on a saterday in my driveway at home?

Probably more than the value of the car to get these done at a shop. If you can follow some basic DIY guides, its possible to do at home.
