the fuel pump was replaced on my 87, gle, 740, volvo, non-turbo sedan, used the battery to check, it ran, put it in the back, nothing. what could it be, it's new

replaced the electrical in-tank fuel pump, after assembling it, it wouldn't the
fuel pump wouldn't start, hooked it to the battery, it started right away.  For
some reason its not getting any juice when off of the battery.  I have a
1987,gle, 740, volvo sedan, non-turbo.  What could it be.  Need help.

Try replacing the fuel pump relay. The pump sounds like it is not getting power to it.
