I am looking into 420SEL Mercedes Benz 1989 - they are asking $2,700- apparently in excellent condition -it is two hour drive- is there anything thta i should inquire before the drive -

Cars like that are not a good deal at any price due to the extremely high cost of repairs. Have a mechanic check it out but if I were buying it I would drive it until a major repair was needed and then I would junk it.

Don't waste any time unless you have a complete, verifiable maintenance history and no more than two or three owners. And that's not likely. Even if you have the above, at the first hint of major problems, be prepared to ditch it, as Full_of_Regrets advises.
