i have a mercedes benz 560sel i looked at mine the automatic has no such function and the only buttons are for the 4 windows the electric mirror and the child lock so the doors cannot be opened other than that there is nothing else unless you have another setup that is not a mercedes benz accessory maybe aftermarket that someone had installed they did have a rare amg model and the amg at that time was not part of mb i have only seen 2 from that time period engine's that produced in excess of 500 hp top out over 175mph and they had some non standard installation of one of a kind fuction
or the other option is that someone has installed a late model transmission that has the shift mode's but what a nightmare the expense that it would take to connect all the electronics that it takes to operate the modern mercedes transmission the sensors the computers and the hardware it takes a lot of money and labor to make it all work is astronomical ?
i also contacted mb and asked them about your car they stated no there was no type of this function for any mercedes from that time period only standard 4sp auto or 4sp manual transmissions which where built by gm as the technology did not exist until in the early 2000's with there sport mercedes benz only
