I have a guy trying to sell me an 84 T-Type Riviera, says its RWD and has a factory Grand National motor. Were these factory options?
I have no way of knowing what mods this guy did to this car but other people have done conversions ------- https://www.hemmings.com/magazine/mus/2006/11/Eminence- Front---1984-Buick-Riviera-T-Type/1364800.html

I looked at these when new and do not remember any RWD they were FWD for about 5 years by then anyway. These are worth as much as new prices now so anyone converting it to RWD would be taking a lose or real smart to do a conversion to RWD as the the last one I saw (FWD) was $25000 used.
Tom - the CG specs are wrong. The 84 Riviera shared the same platform with the Cadillac Eldorado and the Olds Toronado. http://www.automobile- catalog.com/make/buick/riviera_6gen/riviera_6gen/1984.html
The 1984 Riviera "T" type was a option... it used a 3800 turbocharge engine rated at 190 hp/300 torque. The final drive for standard Riviera was 2:73 probably for the standard V6, 2:93 for the 305 V8 and the T type had 3:23 lots of other options were part of the "T" type package. Yes...as everyone above agrees...they were all front wheel drive
