Does it just keep blowing or does it turn off automatically after a minute or two?

I left it on for awhile and it kept blowing so disconnected the ground

If you left the fan running until the battery got weak it might be possible that the relay could not switch the power off. Did this problem re-occur after you drove the car the next time?

I can't find a wiring diagram for your car but you may want to buy a repair manual. Most have wiring diagrams. Trace out all the components of the fan system and look for anything that would keep the fan going when it should be switched off.

I appreciate the help. I looked at the owners manual and tried one of the fuses. Maybe it wasnt the right one. I will take a look in the day time. Thanks again

You did not say what the car is....you name might indicate it is a Riviera.....in that case there is a blower fan controller that goes bad and has the symptoms you are seeing. It is located on the passanger side of the firewall, two connectors plug into it and there are three screws that must come out. The part was used on all GM cars that had "automatic" air from about 1986 to 1994 and they can be found in salvage yards or you can pay about $60 for one at a parts store GM part goes for over $100 see picture for location.

It is a 85 riviera. I found two plugs under the hood on passanger side. I pulled the smaller plug of the two and it turned off. Now i have no heater. So i need to fix the blower fan control?
