Can I use Transmission without engine computer

Will my 1989 Lincoln towncar transmission work without the engine computer.
If not what would I have to do. On my 81 corvette I put a toggle switch for the
converta to lock up.  Thank you. John

The AOD did not get electronic controls until 1992. Not sure how the lockup was controlled but I think it is all mechanical.
