I would freshen the 305 and consider adding throttle body fuel injection to it. MSD and Holley make such units.
The throttle body is a good idea, Bob- a 20th century solution- but updating that car with modern systems would require a new drivetrain and electrical system- it can be done, but, by a pro- and expensive-
After all the time and expense in a project like that it would be a "resto- mod"- buy a copy of Hot Rod magazine and see how people are updating the old cars-
Spend the money and drop a 383 stroker motor in there and rebuild the 700R4 trans !!! Slap on some 295/55/R15 tire on old school Chevy rally rims and you’ll be styling & profiling as you leave the rest of the pack as the stop light !!!! I put a small block 400 in mine and rebuilt the same trans !! It’s coming together nicely !! I’m a old Chevy Man since my Dad bought his 1967 Impala coupe , Bad ass cars !!
