my 86 montero does not start when raining or humid

Sounds like you have what I call spark jump. This happens when damp out side and vehicle will either not run or run poorly. Most times it is caused by old/bad spark plug wires and or old/cracked distr cap. Only fix is to inspect these items and replace as needed.

There is supposed to be a boot covering the distributor if that is not in place moisture will plague you.
