86 vanagon when driving the other day my
van started backfiring and loosing power
the water temp Igor came on , I got it home
and got it started and let it run but tried to
drive it and back fired again and died,
since then I've change the plugs and cap
and put in a new temp sencor 2 , but still
won't start battery has a full charge and it
gets plenty of gas . Talked to the VW Mach
in town and he says I blow a water hose
but checked all of them and I have on
leakage . Thanks in advance from Iowa

VW's and Audi (made by VW) are some of the most tempermental vehicles out there. The fixes are sometimes costly, and time consuming. Check the belt tensioner (for the timing) and the Idle Air Control Valve. Thats where I would start.
