Have a 91 stealth twin turbo. Shop says ecu bad maybe.
Asked by Gmcdenali2 May 21, 2015 at 10:21 AM about the 1991 Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo AWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I borrowed a ecu from a 3000gt vr4. 1991
also. Shop says the 3000gt ecu has a
security on it only let's run for 5 secs then
dies. Doesn't die with the questionable
orginal ecu but doesn't run rite with it either.
Is there a difference in the security on these
ecu from same year. ? Car with original ecu
runs but about 1500 rpms bogs down real
bad. Lunges and just sounds bad. Shop
has check timing. Injectors new maf..coils ?
Can u help? Thank u

Nice car- hard to tell from here, but it sounds like the shop is just guessin'- if you have the bucks, go ahead and let them try to fix it, call them on it and see if they are right- but if you value your money, find a different garage maybe one that deals with classic/high performance cars- are those the original turbos? the original cat?

Car only has 35000 orginal miles. Rear turbo was replaced. Cat has been removed. But ran great for 2 years after that. But 3000gt ecu shop is saying it's got security on it and my stealth ecu doesn't.
there is NO security on these ECUs theyre plug and play that is you have the right one for your car,, the new ECU have to match the number of the one your replacing theres a sticker on the top of them ill try n find you a pic of what im talking about,,
by the way is there any CEL's ? (check engine light) if so you need to post the codes if you don't have the codes then you need to get them pulled and figure out what they are
here see if this helps ya out any http://www.3si.org/forum/f1/ecu-numbers-642754/

Thsnks. They are exact match. No check engine car runs different with both
then you have either 2 bad ECUs or its not the ECU and you could still have codes even without a check engine light,, try checking codes and make sure there isn't any codes
