6.2L v8 f250 vs 5.7L v8 Hemi 1500
Asked by Jeffrey Jun 17, 2020 at 12:25 AM about the 2013 Ford F-250 Super Duty XLT Crew Cab 4WD
Question type: General
I'm looking to upsize to a 3/4 and have the
opportunity to trade in my 2015 Ram 1500 hemi
sxt crew cab short box for a 2013 6.2L v8 f250 xlt
crew cab long box. My Hemi has 125000kms and
the ford f250 has 170000kms. Both trucks are
mechanically sound and I can do a straight trade,
no cash involved. Is it worth it or should i hold off?
I dont absolutely need a larger truck but it would
have come in handy numerous times as the short
box sucks once you get a tool box in there, plus I'd
like to be able to tow more weight.

Even though they'd be upgrading by 2 years and 45k mi. Find out why they're willing to downgrade in size and capabilities. If there's anything that makes you uncomfortable with trading, back out. If you're confident, congrats and hope it works out for you.
It's actually trading with a dealership and they're willing to throw warranty that has to worked out on the truck. Market value for my Ram is a little higher but half ton trucks sell quicker in my neck of the woods which I think is the driving factor for them.
In my opinion the Ford is the better truck.

I agree with F O R. You won't have the early ECM failure or replacing the transmission every other year.
The 6.2 Ford engine has a good reputation too. One word of caution on the Ford. Some have a death wobble issue that can be fixed with heavy duty after market parts. If you can, test drive it on a rough road and try to cross RR tracks at a speed around 55 to 60 and see what happens. Make them promise to give you money back if it displays the death wobble in the first year you own it!
