Question type: General

Does the camera also serve as a sensor, does it
beep when too close? Or if and object comes
behind?

Sometimes, there's a button that controls the audio warning and it's separate from the camera. I don't know about your vehicle, but my truck has a camera and a button for the audio warning "beep" sensor that I can turn on and off. Easiest way to find out... back up closely to something in your driveway and see if it beeps. Have a friend walk past the back of your vehicle while it's in reverse and see if it beeps. Sorry I can't be more help. Just replying cuz nobody else has.

I have a 2014 Soul !. The backup camera does not have a sensor.

The proximity sensors would be separate. Probably located on the bumper.
