would a blown engine cause the starter to go out

my 2013 santa fe was running good then it died the dealer said i needed a
starter so they replaced then said it was a blown engine and they covered that
but said i need to cover the starter they replaced

Looks like they misdiagnosed the problem. When the engine seized or locked up they assumed it was a bad starter, they replaced it and realized the engine was locked up.
